Shibori :: The Japanese technique of indigo resist dyeing
Boro :: The ancient Japanese practice of cutting up, patching and weaving old garments (primarily those dyed with indigo) to make them new again. Boro came to predominately signify clothing worn by the peasant farming classes, who mended their garments with spare fabric scrapes out of economic necessity. The usage of such a boro garment would be handed down over generations, eventually resembling a patchwork after decades of mending.
While incorporating ideas of wabi sabi, I am interested in the process of construction and de-construction to re-create something new all together.
